His works have resulted in important advances in the fields of sensing and light emission, photovoltaics, and water and CO2 electrolysis. He is passionate about training the next generation of scientists making impact on green technologies.

Dr. Bárbara Burlini Polesso
Postdoctoral Fellow

Barbara obtained her PhD in Materials Technology and Engineering from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul. As a researcher, she is interested in investigating new strategies and technologies for CO2 capture. Besides, she has a knack for thriller novels and loves to chill on the beach!

Dr. Marinos Dimitropoulos
Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow

Marinos obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece. His research interests in the group include nanoscale characterization, 2D materials, catalysis, and strain engineering. In his free time, he likes to cook, plan parties, and analyze sports events from the couch.

Dr. Anku Guha
Postdoctoral Fellow

Anku has a PhD in Chemistry from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, India. His research in the group involves fundamental study of electrolytic reactions using in situ Raman spectroscopy and working in nitrogen-based electrocatalysis. When not working, he can be found immersed in Bengali novels.

Dr. Viktoriia Holovanova
Postdoctoral Fellow

Viktoriia obtained her PhD in Materials Science from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain. With a multidisciplinary research background, she is now working in nanoscale characterization and exploring emerging technologies for CO2 utilization and conversion into valuable chemicals. As a side venture, she loves travelling and secretly aspires to become a rockstar!

Dr. Sunil Kadam
Postdoctoral Fellow

Sunil has a PhD in Chemistry from C-MET, Pune, India. His research in the group involves catalyst designing for electrochemical CO2 reduction to green valuable fuel. Besides, he would never say no to cooking, hiking, and doing sports.

Dr. Kaiwen Wang
Postdoctoral Fellow

Kaiwen obtained his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the Beijing University of Technology (CN). Currently, he focuses on developing atomic site catalysts for energy conversion applications.

Dr. Lu xia
Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow

Lu pursued his PhD and postdoctoral research in Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University and Forschungszentrum Jülich. Currently, he focuses on the precatalyst training by programmed protocols and 3.5th generation membrane electrode assembly (MEA), as well as system integration for both anodic and cathodic valorization.

Blanca Belsa Carné
PhD Student

Blanca received her MSc degree in Multidisciplinary Research in Experimental Sciences at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Spain. She is interested in developing technologies to capture and convert CO2 emissions into valuable chemical feedstocks. In her free time, she likes to browse through houses in the ridiculous Barcelona market XD

Aparna Das
PhD Student

Aparna received her MSc degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Thiruvananthapuram. Her research interests involve getting insights into water electrolysis and CO2 electroreduction using in situ and operando techniques. Music calms her down and when it comes to travel, she never misses a chance!

Ranit Ram
PhD Student

Ranit worked on materials science and electron microscopy in his Masters. Currently, his research interests involve PEM water electrolysis and electrochemical valorization reactions. He is fascinated to understand the underlying mechanism of these reactions via operando spectroscopies. His hobbies are trekking, playing badminton, chess and watching Japanese Anime.

Diksha Mittal
Master’s Student

Diksha is pursuing BS-MS at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Berhampur, India. She is interested in exploring functional materials that are efficient and environmentally sound for renewable energy production. And amidst all the chaos, she believes that only Hozier can keep her sane.
